Since 1981, the annual Library Lunch has brought together engaging speakers and the Library's closest friends to celebrate literature and culture.
The 2026 Library Lunch Dollars & Sense will feature an exciting afternoon where we will explore the themes of money, privilege, and ambition in literature, and the authorial fascination with class and power. Once again moderated by David Remnick, this year’s panel includes Pulitzer Prize-winner Hernan Diaz, acclaimed novelist Min Jin Lee, and bestselling author Gary Shteyngart—writers who will provide a unique perspective on how privilege impacts characters' ambitions and societal expectations, and why readers of all backgrounds gravitate to these stories.
